The following is a list of suggestions we have found help make preschool and kindergarten more successful. Even though our program has an academic focus, we accomplish this through many age appropriate activities so that that learning becomes fun for each child. Before your child can attend Legend Park Pre-School your child must:
be 3 by August 31st if you are enrolling your child into the 3's class
be turn 4 by December 31st if you are enrolling your child into the 4's class
be verbal and able to understand simple direction
be completely toilet trained
show an eagerness to learn and get ready for kindergarten
We at Legend Park will make it a priority to go over such motor skills as gluing, cutting, etc. However, we find it very helpful for the parents to introduce these concepts prior to starting at Legend Park. Some suggestions you can do from home to help prepare them for success in preschool & kindergarten can be to:
go over basic colors & shapes
get them familiar with writing their name (have them trace the dotted lines to form their name)
go over counting and get them familiar with numbers 0-9
start singing the ABC's with them
help guide them with the use of safety scissors (give them lines or shapes on a piece of paper and help guide them while they cut)
use the shapes they cut out and help them to use glue to paste it on paper
